Dongseo University is becoming better known in the Baltic country of Lithuania. Last year, the prestigious Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) signed a ‘2+2’ undergraduate program agreement with Dongseo University in the field of Digital Contents. Under that agreement, students of MRU study for two years at their home university and then complete the last two years of their studies at Dongseo University.

Mykolas Romeris University expressed interest in creating a related ‘1+1’ program at the graduate level, and representatives from each university collaborated in drafting a new agreement. Dongseo University President Jekuk Chang visited Lithuania and together with MRU Rector Dr. Algirdas Monkevičius signed the new agreement on June 29. It will soon enable Lithuanian students to receive in-depth graduate education and develop practical ‘know-how’ in the field of Digital Contents.

While visiting Lithuania, President Chang also participated in the graduation ceremony held for the first class of the Vilnius King Sejong Institute at MRU. Certificates of completion were awarded to 50 students. The Institute was established based on approval received by DSU in 2014 from the Korean Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism and from the King Sejong Institute Foundation. It has been in operation since last October and provides instruction on Korean language and culture to people from the Baltic countries.

Commenting on the ceremony, President Chang said he was very surprised and impressed by how well the graduates were able to speak Korean after only a relatively short time of study. Many of the graduates expressed a wish to visit Korea, and those in the ‘2+2’ undergraduate program were especially keen to study Digital Contents at Dongseo University.
