Dongseo University’s “Animotion” program was selected by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Korea Institute for the Advancement of Technology (KIAT) to participate in two-step school enterprises. Sixty schools were selected to contribute to the training of talent and generation of profits. The schools selected include 24 universities, 23 colleges, and 13 specialized high schools.

The total budget to be divided among the 60 schools is 10 billion won. Funding for universities and colleges ranges between 100 million won and 230 million won, and that for specialized high schools is less than 100 million won. The funds are available to the schools for 2 to 5 years. The funding can be spent on facilities and equipment, training fees, and operating costs.

Animotion is now cooperating with local enterprises such as Samji, VIM, and others. With this collaboration, Digital Content majors will have more chances to create animations and develop 4-D ride films.

Professor Kim Ki-hong, the head of Animotion, said, “I think the reason we were chosen is for the technologies we have, our sale performance in 4-D ride films, and the results of our distributive cooperation. We are going to try to use this chance not only to give our students field experience, but also to develop our technologies and create profits.

A representative from the Ministry of Education said, “I expect that 30,000 students can gain field experience through this program, and the profits made could be reinvested into their education.”
