Students from Shanghai University of Engineering Science came to Dongseo University at the beginning of the 2015-1 semester to study multi-media design. Since 2003, the two universities have operated a joint 3+1 degree program, meaning the Chinese students study in Shanghai for three years and then come to DSU for one year to learn professional design. The welcoming ceremony for these students was held at the international seminar room in the U-IT Building.
A total of 98 Chinese students are participating in the program. Having come to DSU to study abroad, the eager students said, “We are going to spend our time here effectively, and we will also seek to enjoy Busan’s culture”. The President of DSU Jekuk Chang, the Dean of the Design Department Cho Jeung-sung, professors in the Department of Multi-Media Design, and the Headmaster of SUES Tang Youchun participated in the ceremony. The program continues to produce great results. So far, 620 Chinese students have successfully finished the program, 96% of whom are now working. Such results have led to talk among those at Shanghai University of Engineering Science that the multi-media design program shared with Dongseo University is becoming famous in China.
President Jekuk Chang emphasized that, “DSU is a university that focuses not only on Korean students but also on foreign students. The positive changes these students experience between enrollment and graduation will help them become outstanding members of a global society.” Addressing the students, he added, “I hope you will spend your time wisely and be healthy throughout the year. I will do my best to make this year meaningful, with fond many memories of being part of the DSU family.”
