DSU President Jekuk Chang received an honorary doctorate from Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania on Monday, November 11. He became the first Korean person ever to receive an honorary doctorate in Lithuania. President Chang was recognized for Dongseo University’s efforts in the development of international cooperation through practical international programs and cooperation between universities.

After the award ceremony, Dr. Jekuk Chang said, “I’m so thankful and honored to receive an honorary doctorate from one of the most prestigious universities in Lithuania. An honorary doctorate is extra special because it requires not only your own efforts but also the recognition of others.”

Last year, Dongseo University concluded an agreement with Mykolas Romeris University for educational exchange. In May, the two universities signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with an industrial complex in Uzupis, Lithuania. DSU and Mykolas Romeris University are now preparing a joint degree program in the field of Digital Contents.

As President Chang emphasized after the award ceremony, educational internationalization and innovation are crucial in a changing world. More than ever, the purpose of universities is to foster talented individuals for the future. Those who fail to adapt to changes will fall behind in the world, but the people who adapt to changes will thrive. In its efforts to work closely with partner universities throughout the world, DSU is determined to be among the institutions that thrive.
