Asia Summer Program 2013 Kicks Off at DSU

ASP.jpg (3.90 MB)Dongseo University will hold the opening ceremony for the 2013 Asia Summer Program on July 8th at its Centum Campus in Haeundae. This collaborative, credit-sharing program will run for a period of three weeks, offering participating students the chance to experience a highly international environment and to learn directly about the diverse cultures of Asia.
DSU President Jekuk Chang said the ASP is helpful in constructing cooperative networks among students of Asian universities, adding that the program also increases their understanding of Asian perspectives. DSU hopes all of the participants will succeed in their studies and enjoy the many opportunities available for socializing and building new friendships.
Following its ratification as an official affiliate of the Asian University Presidents Forum, the ASP expanded to include more AUPF member universities. The first ASP, held in Indonesia in 2012, was attended by students from the five founding institutions: Bangkok University in Thailand, Dongseo University in Korea, Josai International University in Japan, Petra Christian University in Indonesia, and Universiti Malaysia Perlis in Malaysia. This year 27 universities from 11 countries will participate, involving 27 professors and over 300 students. All of the program’s 26 courses will be taught in English, including those offered by faculty from DSU’s Im Kwon Taek College of Film & Performing Arts. These courses on cinema-related topics will be taught using the new facilities at the Centum Campus, with shuttle bus services available to transport participants between locations.
