On September 22nd, Choi Jin Won and Choi Ji Hoon (juniors in Tourism Management) received the first prize and award money of three million won at the ‘2009 Gyoengbuk Tourism Ideas Contest,’ sponsored by Gyeongsangbuk-do and held in Gyeongju City. About 766 works were accepted for the contest and the prize winning work was chosen after three presentation screenings.

Their work’s title was “Moonlight,” named in the hope that they will be able to create a world-renowned skyline in Gyeongju. They suggested three ideas to achieve their goal. First, they proposed to make a Ferris wheel, which will shine as the full moon, to be a symbol of Gyeongju, like the British London Eye. Secondly, they suggested putting LED streetlights covered with Korean paper around Bomun Lake. Thirdly, they proposed the construction of a bridge on Bomun Lake, which would symbolize Gyeongju’s past connection with the present and the future.
