The Opening of 3D Exhibition Hall

On November 13th, 2009, the opening ceremony of the ‘3D Exhibition Hall’ was held on the fourth floor of the New Millennium Building. Those present included DSU President, Park Dong Soon; member of the National Assembly, Huh Won Je; Director of Busan Policy Planning Office, Kim Jong Hae; President of Busan Digital University, Choi Seung Wook; President of KIT, Hwang Il Joo; as well as other faculty members.
The Exhibition Hall was built to meet the challenges that may be presented by 3D imaging in the future. A variety of 3D images and 3D equipment displays are on exhibition for visitors to experience on the spot. This exhibition hall consists of 22 sections, for example, 3D Greeting Hall, AR Book Area, a 3D Arena, and 3D Riders just to name a few. A total of 1 billion won was put into the opening of this exhibition hall. The devices and contents will be upgraded as needed through university and industry cooperation.
President Park said in his address to the visitors, “I am so pleased that DSU has already shown leadership in globalization and has now opened the 3D Exhibition Hall to meet the challenges of future technology. We will continue to develop various 3D content by actively promoting educational-industrial cooperation.”
Congressman Huh Won Je also said in his address, “The future is the age of 3D. It is very astonishing that Dongseo University has taken steps in anticipating theses trends in advance and opened the 3D Exhibition Hall today. This opening is also a good example of Busan becoming an image-cultural city.”
Having already established the Division of Digital Contents that includes gaming, animation, and digital production majors, DSU is increasing its preparation for digital trends. DSU also opened the Digital Contents Center in 2005 and has relied on the cooperation between the industry and the university to make a variety of digital content. Infrastructure is now in place for producing commercial projects, and as a result, graduates in these areas will now be more competent and better prepared for the industry.
In the near future, 3D content and technology are going to move out of the movie theaters and into personal devices such as TV, DMB, and even cell phones. DSU hopes to eventually be the nation’s number one source of 3D innovation, adopting the slogan, “DSU is the best in digital and 3D content.”
