Dongseo Educational Foundation Chancellor Park Dong Soon Receives Lifetime Achievement Award at the 8th World Women University Presidents Forum (WWUPF)

Dr. Park Dong Soon, Chancellor of the Dongseo Educational Foundation, received a lifetime achievement award at the 8th World Women University Presidents Forum held at China’s Wuhan University from April 8 to 10. Chancellor Park Dong Soon was president of Dongseo University for 12 years, from March 1999 to February 2011. As DSU president, she established the Im Kwon Taek College of Film and Media Arts; Minseok Library, which is the largest library in Busan and South Gyeongsang province; the DSU Centum Campus in Haeundae; and overseas campuses in the USA and China. As president, she also held an international meeting of university presidents to discuss globalization and specialization strategies. Currently, as chancellor of the Dongseo Educational Foundation, Dr. Park oversees Dongseo University as well as Kyungnam College of Information & Technology and Busan Digital University. Moreover, Chancellor Park remains actively engaged not only in education but also in environmental issues as President of the Busan Mothers’ Green Movement (BMGM).

The 8th World Women University Presidents Forum’s selection committee presented lifetime achievement awards to 12 university presidents for their outstanding commitment to higher education. In addition to Chancellor Park Dong Soon, Liu Jinan, Honorary President of the Communication University of China; Mavellen Hughes, Former (first female) Vice-chancellor of Arizona State University and Former (first female) President of California State University; Judith Kinnier, Former (first female) President of New Zealand's Mashish University; Noriko Mizuta, Former President and Chairman of Japan’s Josai University; and Marija Bogdanovich, Former President of the University of Belgrade also received the award. More than 150 current and former female university presidents and vice presidents from 47 countries attended the forum, which was held under the theme “Future Education, New Leadership, Future Society for Humanity.”
