The Korea-China Joint Multimedia Design Major is run by Dongseo University and Shanghai University of Engineering Science. The joint venture has been recognized as the most successful educational cooperation project between Korea and China over the last 15 years.Since September 2003, about 700 Chinese students have come to study at Dongseo University.

Upgrade to a dual degree program

Since its inception in September 2003, the Korea-China Joint Multimedia Design Major has operated as a 3 + 1 program, whereby Chinese students spent three years studying in China and one year studying in Dongseo University. Upon completion of the 3 + 1 program, the Chinese students received a degree from Shanghai University of Engineering Science and a certificate from Dongseo University.

Starting next year, Chinese students graduating from the program will receive a degree from Dongseo University instead of the current certificate. This means the graduating students will obtain degrees from both Shanghai University of Engineering Science and Dongseo University. Dongseo University and Shanghai University of Engineering Science have agreed to extend the dual degree program until 2027.

“In the next decade, it will be important to run a more specialized Korea-China joint venture program,” said the president of Dongseo University,Jekuk Chang. “For this, we will try to build a unique program that combines elements of Korean and Chinese cultures, traditions, humanities, creativity, and Asian values.”
