Two juniors majoring in Design at DSU, Park So-hyun and Seo Hye-rin, were awarded the Grand Prize along with five million won at the 2015 Korean Institute of Interior Design Theme Contest.
The contest theme was “Instant Workplace,” and participants were expected to create new concepts for making the best use of creative space in a business setting. Teams from 168 Korean universities submitted entries for the contest. Only ten of the works selected for preliminary evaluation went on to the final evaluation, where the projects were examined by a panel of judges in an open critique.
The Grand Prize piece was titled, “Natural Web.” The project’s underlying concept was a spider web, with connecting lines running from edge to edge over an empty space. It enhanced accessibility and created new spaces for taking a rest in the workplace.
