2016 International Culture Night

Dongseo University’s Global Studies Institute (GSI) held the 2016 International Culture Night on November 25 at Sohyang Art Hall. Over 200 people attended the event, including international and Korean students. Dr.Hekyung Kim, Director of the GSI,said, “This event is an opportunity for Dongseo University students to unite by sharing in each other’s different cultures. We hope they will continue to do so even after they have graduated.”

 

The event kicked off with a congratulations ceremony, followed by several cultural performances, a joint performance, an after party for the participants, and finally a teacher appreciation banquet. The cultural performances in particular were well received and drew great applause. Attendees were treated to a shadow play by Malaysian students, a traditional dance by Chinese students, music and singing by Vietnamese students, a rousing K-Pop performance by Korean students, a dance performance by Latin American students, dancing and singing by Indonesian students, and a dance performance by Uzbek students.

 

Department of International Studies (DIS) sophomore Khamidkhon, from Uzbekistan, said, “The International Culture Night was an event which taught me how cultural diversity and harmony are important in our world. I hope this event will continue every year.”

 

Film & Video freshman Satrio, from Indonesia, said, “It was a very good experience to participate in this kind of international cultural event. It was good that students from different countries could show characteristics of their traditional cultures.”
