The best universities selected in each area received a joint authentication from the Ministry of Education, the Federation of Korean Industries, and the Korean Council for University Education. In addition, the Federation of Korean Industries is planning to urge its member companies to give incentives to the best universities’ graduates when they apply for jobs.

The University Evaluation from an Industrial Perspective aims at developing core job skills through required courses suited to task performance in the industrial field. It evaluates universities based on how closely their curriculums correspond to this aim. In so doing, the University Evaluation from an Industrial Perspective has been applying suggestions from the Federation of Korean Industries since 2008.

This year’s evaluation committee included executives from 34 companies including Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, NC Soft, and Sempio Foods Company. A total of 1,703 companies also participated in the evaluation survey.

Looking ahead to next year, the 2016 evaluation will focus on the fields of architecture, civil engineering, machinery, cars, and offshore & shipbuilding.

Hong Min-shik, the Ministry of Education’s University Support Officer, said that “in the trend of capability-centered recruitment, by systemizing the communication structure between university and industry, we seek to improve performance though the effective evaluation of industry-academia integration.”
