Beginning last September, DSU initiated an “Applied Basic Science Volunteer Program”. The goal is to provide an opportunity for students, especially occupational therapy majors, to combine science and therapy in developing practical, hands-on activities for teaching basic science. Currently, DSU students are using the newly developed materials while volunteering at several schools in Busan.

The occupational therapy major was established in 2011 at DSU, making it the first university in Busan to offer this major. Occupational therapy is one of the fields in the Health Sciences that trains professionals to provide rehabilitation services to individuals suffering from physical and/or mental disabilities. This practical volunteer program provides students the opportunity to develop lesson plans specifically designed for special needs students, such as those attending the Solvit School in Sa-sang.
