The University of Oulu has a tradition of conferring honorary degrees to eminent scientists or influential persons in society. The university recognized Dr. Park’s achievements during her term of office, especially her commitment to building an international education network including universities from around the world.
Oulu University is the largest university in northern Finland, with strong programs in Bioengineering and IT. DSU and Oulu University first established an academic exchange program in 2004. Since then, several students have earned joint doctoral degrees. Such initiatives have provided students and faculty from both universities opportunities to conduct research and experience different cultures.
