DSU Student Directors Recognized by International Film Festivals

Three Dongseo University graduate students working on their Master’s degree in the Department of Film have been invited to participate at world-renowned film festivals. Son Il-sung’s film Wanderer will be shown at the Fukuoka Independent Film Festival. The movie is about the agonizing and painful life of a North Korean defector. Lee Joon-sang has been invited to the Montreal Independent Film Festival to show his movie Animal about a selfish family. And Park Ki-nam has been invited to the Daejong Short Film Awards in Goheung and the Independent Film and Video Maker’s Forum in Seoul. Her movie Grandma portrays the love between a grandmother and her granddaughter.
Son Il-sung’s Wanderer received the “Audience Award” at the Independent Film Festival MADE IN BUSAN. About his invitation to the Fukuoka Independent Film Festival he said, “I’m very happy to be invited to an international film festival, and I would like to thank my professors and DSU for their support and assistance in making this movie.”
The three directors are currently planning to establish their own film production and distribution company.
