Three product design teams from Dongseo University were recently recognized with top honors at four international competitions. The DSU students’ innovative products were selected to receive the highly coveted awards among thousands of entries created by designers from all over the world.
Team members Park Cheol-yeon, Jeong Chan, Kim Seong-do, Im Seong-jin, and Heo Su-seon designed an electric hair razor small enough for people to carry in their pocket and place on their finger for use anytime, anywhere. Heo Jin-won, Kim Da-som, Yoon Keong-han, Son Chang-man, and Choi Sun-sic, the members of another team, received an award for developing a laser pen that allows people to write in a straight line on unlined paper. These two teams will be recognized at an award ceremony in Singapore on October 25th.
Kim Su-in and Kim Tae-jin won four prizes for two of their products: a comb that prevents tangles while blow-drying your hair and a walker for the blind. The comb won at the International Forum (iF) Award competition; the walker won at the Universal Design Award competition; and both were recognized at the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) competition.
Both Kim Tae-jin and Heo Jin-won said they were pleased to have finally achieved their goal of developing products selected as winners at these esteemed international competitions. Kim Tae-jin also thanked DSU for supporting him both financially and intellectually, adding that he will keep challenging himself to accomplish even more.
