Three Dongseo University video broadcasting major students were awarded the Busan Mayor Grand Prize at the 13th Busan Video Competition awards ceremony held at the Busan Media Center on November 22. The event was hosted by Busan City and Busan Video Forum. Videos entered in the competition focused on topics related to Busan’s history, culture and tourism.
The winners of the Busan Mayor Grand Prize are fourth-year students Han Dong-hoon and Lee Moo-joon, and third-year student Kim Kyung-wook. Their winning video Busan Wave is a documentary that borrows from the music video format and combines objective and subjective elements. The video follows the main character on a tour of Busan’s beautiful beaches, introducing marine leisure sports such as surfing at Songjeong beach and sailing in Haeundae. The video is set to upbeat and catchy music.
"I have loved traveling since I was young,” said Han Dong-hoon. “Whenever I go on a trip, I take pictures and videos. The story of Busan Wave was presented in a monologue in the work. The video is like a diary. Previously, I had never really thought of traveling Busan. While making this video, I realized that Busan is a wonderful place.”
Other Dongseo University students were also recognized. Encouragement prizes were awarded to I Came to See the Beach and Saw the Stars by third-year students Kim Min-gyu and Park Byung-gwan and second-year student Kang Hyun-joon; Fall in Busan by third-year student Lee Tae-ho and second-year students Kim Tae-min and Jang Gun-wook; along with Galmae-gil (Oryukdo-Igidae) by third-year students Jang Myeong-gyo, Park Sae-rom and Kim Dae-hyun.
These works were produced during the Fall 2018 semester as part of Professsor Park Mi-sun’s Work Production class in the video broadcasting major.
