Dong-A University-Dongseo University Consortium Selected For 2024 Glocal University 30

The Dong-A University-Dongseo University Consortium Model has been selected for the Ministry of Education's 2024 Glocal University 30 project, which selects 30 models for joint growth between regions and universities.

The consortium between Dong-A University and Dongseo University entered a business agreement with the city of Busan to strengthen cooperation with Glocal University. They held a briefing session at Glocal University to present their vision and innovation strategies, gathering opinions to develop a shared growth model for the region and universities based on regional, university, and industry partnerships.

The Dong-A University and Dongseo University Consortium will receive 100 billion won in national funding over five years through this public project. The consortium will implement an open, collaborative university model in Busan to achieve shared benefits for Busan City and the two universities, based on the Integrated Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation. Together they will pursue strategic tasks across three key areas: 1) Open Private University Consortium, 2) Integrated Industry-Academia Campus Consortium, and 3) Regional University Consortium.

The consortium will focus on the following eight detailed strategic tasks: 1) establishing an open private university consortium model; 2) building an integrated system for the consortium; 3) innovating education and research based on specialized Field Campuses; 4) revamping the education system to ensure the successful operation of the Glocal University Consortium; 5) operating a sustainable, revenue-generating integrated industrial complex and expanding the performance model; 6) developing a student success support system for regional talent cultivation; 7) innovating the global campus system and attracting 7,000 high-quality international students; and 8) enhancing regional recognition and improving settlement conditions.

Through those eight strategic tasks, the consortium aims to create a regional innovation ecosystem and cultivate specialized professionals in four specialized fields: 1) energy technology (power semiconductor, hydrogen); 2) human care (bio-health); 3) cultural contents (advanced content, convergence design); and 4) Busan Heritage.

President Jekuk Chang of Dongseo University stated, “Our university's specialization strategy and continuous educational innovations have been recognized externally. This achievement is thanks to all members of Dongseo University who have come together and cooperated despite the difficulties. I extend my deep gratitude to them.”
