Dongseo University Hosts Successful 2024 International Camp

The Dongseo University International Exchange Center held the 2024 International Camp on Friday, November 22nd in Gimhae.

The event was organized to provide an opportunity for cultural exchange and friendship building between Korean and international students, fostering a global mindset.

A total of 39 Korean students and 61 international students from 24 different countries, including Germany, Morocco, the United States, Brazil, Thailand, and France, participated.

The camp began with the creation of tile photo frames at the Clayarch Museum, followed by visits to the National Gimhae Museum and Daeseongdong Ancient Tombs,

deepening participants' understanding of the historical value and significance of Gimhae.

The visits to the Suro Wangneung Tomb and the Hanok Experience Center also played an important role in enhancing students’ understanding of Korean traditions and history.

In particular, the Hanok Experience Center provided a precious opportunity to directly experience traditional Korean life and culture.

Additionally, a special task involved creating an acrostic poem using the word "Gimhae," whereby students from different countries creatively expressed their views while sharing their cultures with one another.

The award for best poem went to an Indonesian student who wrote the following lines:

Kim: In the quiet tomb where the spirit of King Suro rests,

Hae: The breath of history blooms every year, becoming a brilliant light.

After the camp, participants shared their thoughts on the day’s events.

"It was great to learn about Korean history and culture," one student said, while another opined, "It was truly meaningful to have the opportunity to interact with friends from various countries."

Still another said, "By talking about each other’s traditions, customs, and food, our understanding and respect for one another grew. The process of communicating beyond language barriers was a truly valuable experience."

The participants all expressed great satisfaction with their experience at the camp.
