Seniors in the Department of Environmental Design at Dongseo University (DSU) were voted among the top seven teams at the Interior Architecture Contest of Busan’s International Architectural Culture Festival 2010. One DSU senior, Kim Ji Hye, was awarded the contest’s grand prize, which included a cash prize of three million won.
The awards ceremony was held at Bexco on September 29th. Kim‘s work, 'Dongnae Stay', highlights landmarks and cultural places in Dongnae, an old, central area of Busan. It shows a plan to develop Dongnae Subway Station into a sophisticated cultural facility including transportation, commerce, accommodations, and a tourist office.
Kim said, "I’ve often ridden a subway to and from Dongnae Station because I live in Dongnae. I poured the thoughts that occurred to me during those times into my work. Over the last six months, I worked day and night, and I'm happy to have achieved more than I had expected. I'd like to thank the professors of the Department of Environmental Design for their help with the preparation." In addition, Ryu Mi Ri, Ha Sang Yong, Nam Seon Jun, Nam Baek Jun and Bong Seon Hwa accepted the Special Selection Award for their works.
