Dongseo University and Sheridan College Explore Expanded Global Animation Partnership

University leadership visit paves the way for MOU
Expansion of K-content and immersive education collaboration

On March 31.Dongseo University welcomed a delegation from Sheridan College, a prestigious Canadian institution specializing in art and design education The delegation included President Dr. Cindy Gouveia and Vice President Rajan Sandhu, who visited the campus for a tour and to discuss potential avenues for collaboration. This visit served as a preliminary step toward the signing of an official Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with the aim of expanding educational cooperation centered on animation and visual media content.

Discussions on Global Education Collaboration in Animation and XR

Through these discussions, both institutions identified key areas of cooperation, including specialized education in animation and visual media, joint training and projects in immersive content such as AR, VR, and VFX, student exchange programs, and global collaborative creation initiatives. In particular, the two sides reached a shared understanding on developing a talent cultivation model that combines Dongseo University’s strengths in immersive content technology-based education with Sheridan College’s storytelling-driven animation training, with the goal of fostering globally competitive content creators.

President Jekuk Chang of Dongseo University stated, “This collaboration with Sheridan College will serve as an important opportunity for Dongseo University to leap forward as a global hub for K-content education.” He added, “By partnering with a world-class institution in animation and immersive content, we expect to provide students with more practical and internationally oriented educational opportunities.”

Professor Choi Dong-hyuk, Head of the Department of Visual & Animation, also expressed optimism, saying, “Through joint education and creative projects that combine the strengths of both institutions, we aim to equip students with the competitiveness needed to succeed in the global market.”

Both institutions plan to move forward with the official MOU based on the detailed discussions.
