Product Design seniors Yoon Eon Tae and Park Chang Hyun placed third in an international design contest held under the sponsorship of ‘The Association of Rotational Molders’ and ‘The Industrial Designers Society of America.’ These two students were the only prize winners from Asia in this contest.
As prizes, they each received five hundred dollars and were invited to participate in the annual conference of the Industrial Designers Society of America, which was held in the Hilton Hotel in Montreal, Canada, from October 3rd to 5th.
For their entry in the contest, they presented their ‘Life Pack’ concept, a blood protection device designed to maintain appropriate blood temperatures. It protects its contents by using aluminum on the container’s interior while providing convenience to the user with its plastic exterior. The team paid special attention to the manufacture of the device’s key components such as the handle and fastener.
Yoon Eon Tae said of the experience, “When we participated in the conference in Canada, we were the only Asians. I felt such pride that we had the ability to do so.”
Park Chang Hyun added that, “If it had not been for Professor Jim Lesko, it would have been impossible for us to participate in this contest. I want to give my heartfelt thanks for his untiring efforts in teaching his students.”
