DSU Holds 2010 Academic Expo

Dongseo University (DSU) held a 2010 Academic Expo from October 20th to 22nd. Many DSU departments prepared presentations which displayed the spirit and passion of their students. In addition, the students’ morale increased through participating in an inter-department athletic meet. Fortunately, the weather remained nice for the two nights and three days of DSU’s Academic Expo.

Day One, October 20th
The Department of Exercise Prescription and the Department of Security Service held academic seminars from 9 am to 5 pm in the following locations: the Seminar Room of the U-IT Building, the Clinic Room of the Minseok Sports Center, and the Security Service System Room of the Electronic Information Building. The Department of Leisure & Sports held a cross-country race on the campus, starting from the Minseok Sports Center. At 1 pm, the Architecture & Civil Engineering departments held a contest for creative infrastructure space ideas. This was held on the 6th floor of the Global Village. The Department of Leisure & Sports also hosted a short course entitled "New Sports" both in the Minseok Sports Center and at other locations on DSU’s campus. The Department of English presented the 14th Annual English Performance of the Drama A Doll's House, one of the best known plays by Henrik Ibsen, written in 1879, at the theater in the Student Union Building. The play was performed twice, once at 3 pm and once at 7 pm.

Day Two, October 21st
The Department of Health Science held the “Academic Festival of Health Science 2010” in the Concert Hall of the Cultural Center from 9 am to 6 pm. The Department of Social Welfare presented an exhibition of “Social Welfare and the Programs for Teenagers” in the Seminar Room of the U-IT Building from 10 am to 5 pm. The Departments of Chinese and International Relations held a joint symposium in the Liberal Arts & Social Science Building starting at 10:30 am. The Departments of Chinese, Theater & Film Acting and Event & Convention jointly presented the play Mulan, which is one of the most loved productions by the Walt Disney Company. It was performed at the theater in the Student Union Building at 3 pm and at 7 pm. In the Minseok Sports Center from 6 pm to 8 pm, the Departments of Exercise Prescription and Security Service provided information for a healthy life.

Day Three, October 22nd
The Department of Japanese presented a play entitled Find Summer Color at the theater in the Student Union Building at 11:30 am and at 5 pm. The Department of Advanced Material Engineering showed how to make natural soap in the Applied Engineering Building from 1 pm to 5 pm. At the same time, the Department of Digital Contents held a contest as part of their "Digital Contents Festival" on the 6th floor of the U-IT Building. The Department of Business Administration had a conference called "Big Issues & Trends" in the Liberal Arts & Social Science Building starting at 2 pm. Also, many students from the Division of Foreign Languages joined at the theater of the Student Union Building to sing songs written in their language of study. This was a chance for the students of DSU to show off their singing abilities. The Departments of Visual Communication and Film & Video held a festival called "Together" in the New Millenium Building from 2 pm to 5 pm. The Department of Tourism and the Im Kwon Taek College of Film & Performing Arts held the 2nd Dongseo Academic Lecture titled "Film Festivals from the Viewpoint of Tourists and Artists" in the U-IT Building.
