Seventy-nine students at Dongseo University are participating in a Study Abroad Program (SAP). While away, they are studying English or Chinese and are steadily becoming globally capable people through gaining experience in America and China, the two most prominent countries known for strong world economic power. The SAP allows DSU students to study abroad without taking a leave of absence from school.
Twenty-three students are involved in the SAP-U.S.A. They are studying at Hope International University for one semester, majoring in Business Administration, International Studies, Foreign Languages, Visual Communication, Social Welfare, and Tourism. For sixteen weeks from January 18th to May 13th, students will take intensive English classes and experience social and cultural activities in the English-speaking world. DSU supported all of the SAP students’ boarding expenses.
Starting next semester, the SAP-U.S.A. will change by increasing the time students spend abroad. Rather than staying for a semester, students will stay for a year. On January 24th, 2011, DSU made an agreement with Hope International University to establish a branch campus in America. With this, DSU students can get the opportunity to experience more overseas activities.
Fifty-six students are involved in the SAP-China, which runs from February 24th to July 14th. They will take classes at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, in Wuhan. Students from every department at DSU are participating in this program. They will take intensive Chinese classes and experience the culture and society of continental China. DSU supported thirty-seven students for boarding expenses according to their grades. Students in China will take specialized instruction by organizing classes of fifteen to twenty students depending on levels.
