A group of 3 Dongseo University (DSU) students and alumni won the Grand Prize in the 10th Digital Video Content Contest. The winners were Lee Seung Yeop, a student in the Graduate School of Design; Seo Ji Uk, a 2008 graduate of Media Interaction Design; and Jeong Won Woong, a senior also majoring in Media Interaction Design. The prize included 3,000,000 Won in cash. The event was sponsored by Busan Metropolitan City, and the awards ceremony was held in the auditorium at Busan City Hall on December 6.

The theme of the contest was “We Meet Busan through BADA TV.” A total of 50 works were submitted. The present and former DSU students’ award-winning work was titled “Old and New Busan,” and it ran for 6 minutes. The film has four chapters, each focused on alleys with bookstores in Bosu-dong, Oncheoncheon, Bujeon Market Town, and the Cultural Village in Gamcheon-dong respectively. Depicting the scenery of these four places with in-depth filming, neat editing, and tidy narration and combined with background music, the film was especially good at connecting these four areas to the will and passion of Busan citizens and in finding novel things in what are otherwise just four ordinary places.

One judge said of the work that: “It is an attractive piece that shows the process of historically symbolic areas and customs changing into modern forms through the efforts of individuals and government. And it is also a top-quality work technically, with stable shooting and editing and a well-executed and professional creation of atmosphere.”

Lee Seung Yeop said after receiving the award, “For me, someone who is graduating from the Graduate School of Design soon, this award is a meaningful gift. Especially as I walked on my own two feet around Busan to make this work - it was the result of my own efforts. But I am also grateful to my professors for their great support for this work, ever since the planning stage.”
