Students majoring in Japanese at Dongseo University (DSU) won a prize in a Japanese pre-tournament debate. The team, consisting of senior Kim Jeong Man, senior Nam Ji Hae, sophomore Lee Kwang Sung, and sophomore Shon Ji Hye, achieved an honorable victory.
This pre-tournament was held at Pusan National University (PNU) on November 26, 2011. The competing teams were separated into two groups. Group A consisted of DSU, Kyungsung University, Silla University and Busan Info-Tech College, while Group B consisted of PNU, Dong-Eui University, Pusan University of Foreign Studies and Changwon National University. Despite the tense situation, the DSU team presented their prepared argument and advanced to the final round after gaining 2 wins in the qualifier. Then, in the final round, they defeated the PNU team 3-2 to become the victors.
Japanese Professor Hujiwara, who directed the students, said: “Although this competition is only the pre-tournament before the 2012 final, to win it is really a high achievement. Dongseo University’s Japanese students have been actively participating in many events and programs, so their skills are really beginning to shine.”
