This course will introduce students to the basics of descriptive and inferential statistics with a focus on how data is used by business in the global marketplace. This is a hands on class where students will learn how to perform basic computer research by collecting data using English language internet search engines. Students will also be introduced to popular and newly constructed analytical tools that are freely available online. Data from institutions like the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization will be utilized to solve inquiries and perform analysis.

The purpose of this course is to provide students with a fundamental understanding of the academic field of International Studies. The course covers the interdisciplinary nature of the major and provides an overview of the other theoretical disciplines most commonly used for international studies analysis. Other disciplines covered in the course include international relations, sociology, economics and anthropology. The course is the first in a two-part series on the international studies field and major.

This is the study of satisfying customer needs for goods and services. Topics include marketing environments, planning, research, segmentation, targeting, and positioning, consumer behavior, products, pricing, promotions, distribution, and basic competitor analysis.

This class is designed as a survey class of innovation and technology adopted by business since the Industrial Revolution to enhance progress from the industrial to the post-industrial age. Topics discussed in class will be the creation and use of factory production, telecommunications, the Internet, applied materials, nanotechnology and robotics. The fundamental aspects of research and development and technology diffusion will also be discussed.

Students will study basic microeconomic theory. Microeconomics focuses on the behavior of human beings as both consumers and workers, and on the behavior of businesses as both producers and employers. This course will cover the following topics: elementary microeconomic theory, supply and demand, industrial organization and consumption choice.

This course will introduce students to the fundamental elements of finance in business and banking. This course will give students the opportunity to learn the basic concepts, tools and techniques of financial management. The students will learn the structural and functional aspects of financing and investment decisions. Some major topics include: raising capital from capital and money markets; the cost of capital; analysis and evaluation of investment projects; capital budgeting; management of corporate liquidity; capital structure policy; dividend policy and financing forecasting.

What are free trade agreements? Why are free trade agreements opposed by so many in both of the countries negotiating them? Do free trade agreements really bring benefits for all parties, or will the stronger or larger of the two countries invariably succeed in a better deal? We will answer these and other questions in this course, while focusing on the problems facing South Korea's free trade agreements with Canada, the United States and the European Union.

This course will introduce students to models employed by multinational corporations for international success. The corporate models of Strabucks, Walmart, Ford Motor Company, Samsung Electronics, Microsoft and Apple are just some of the possible corporate models that may be analyzed in this case study analysis class.

The course is an introduction to the theory, methods and terminology of contemporary Brand Management, with a focus on nation, place and city branding. The course will include case studies of successful and unsuccessful place branding.

Students will examine issues important to trade policy. Topics include tariffs and non-tariff barriers, safeguards, voluntary restraints, dumping, subsidies, strategic trade theory, agricultural trade, country rules, regionalism, and trade organizations such as the WTO, NAFTA and EU.

This course examines, on the basis of case studies, how cultural differences affect the marketing of certain products (from branding to advertising and distribution) in various countries and markets. The validity of existing theories in regard to global marketing will also be critically studied. A special focus will be placed on the extent to which globalization is altering traditional approaches to marketing products overseas.

The course builds on information imparted in Brand Management. The goal is to deepen students' knowledge of tangible and intangible elements of brand management, brand positioning, co-branding, and other key concepts. The course will include case studies of successful and unsuccessful brand management.

The course takes a comparative and analytical approach to the issues of why so many still suffer from poverty and repression in the global era; what needs to be done in order to spread both economic development and political freedom; and the question of whether free trade is equally suitable for all countries and cultures. The course also delves into the controversy surrounding the role played by international organizations (from the UN to the World Bank) in fostering development and seeks to answer the question whether the developed world has a duty to assist developing countries.

Why do consumers behave the way they do? This course looks at the psychology of consumer behavior and tries to answer the question of why some businesses find success and others do not. Students will analyze the processes of how consumers research and make decisions regarding purchases. Students will also analyze how managers make decisions of what to sell based on consumer preference and behavior. Case studies and survey data will be used when appropriate.

This course is designed to enhance student knowledge of central bank behavior and international finance and capital. The course will cover foreign exchange rate behavior; global capital flows; capital controls; risk management in finance; and international regulatory regimes and behavior in the field of finance.

This course, which presupposes a solid grasp of English language and basic computer skills, offers a practical guide to conducting negotiations and making presentations in international settings. The course will make use of multimedia aids (videotaped sessions, for example) in an effort to identify students'strengths and weaknesses in the areas of presentation and negotiation.

Topics will include the World Court, the International Criminal Court, the World Trade Organization's dispute settlement mechanism, jurisdictional control of multinational corporations, patent law, international regulatory reform and enforcement mechanisms for international law. The course is meant as a primer for understanding the legal challenges of taking a domestic enterprise international.

This course seeks to prepare students for the challenges of working and succeeding in multinational corporations and international organizations, with a special focus on issues of motivation, self-presentation and inter-cultural communication.

The course provides an introduction to the special challenges that face the foreign company or individual doing business in Korea. The course will therefore include discussion of the bureaucratic and regulatory environment, trade unions, and unique business-cultural practices. The course will include 2-3 case studies.

This course examines the rapidly growing economies of China and India, seeking both to explain the reasons for their success as well as to illuminate the various dangers and challenges facing each of these nations – from sectarian violence in India to China's difficulties in reconciling business freedom with a nominally Marxist political state. The course will also examine the relevance of the Chinese and Indian models for other emerging economies.

The course is intended for students who have already mastered basic English grammar and orthography and are ready to learn how to write business correspondence. The course will focus on English as used in business-related emails, proposals, presentations, etc, though some time will also be spent teaching oral business communication as used in meetings and negotiations.

Designed for seniors, this course looks at business ethics and social responsibility to give perspective to business as a social enterprise that affects not only company employees and management but also society as a whole. The course will reflect on the role of business in providing happiness in society as well as corporate social responsibility.

This course is designed to show past, present and future models of economic development states employ to increase the social welfare of their societies. The course takes a comparative method to view various states around the globe and reflect on their current state of development. Particular attention is paid to state interference in the economic marketplace and how this has helped or hindered economic development through the decades.
