Dongseo University President Jekuk Chang recently announced that DSU has been selected by the University Specialization Project for six specialization agencies (or business units), the most of any university in Busan.
The Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, which run the University Specialization Project (CK Project), selected 62 new university specialization agencies for 2016. In addition, 27 existing agencies were reselected, for a total of 89 specialization agencies in 58 universities all over the country.
The CK Project characterizes the strong fields of a university and supports departments to help the university become more competitive. The five-year project started in 2014 and will finish in 2018.
This year, the Ministry of Education announced that 492 agencies from 195 universities had submitted project applications by July 22. Of those, 254 agencies made it through a first-stage evaluation, but after the stage 2 evaluation only 89 agencies were finally chosen by the CK Project management committee.
President Chang said, “The fact that DSU has been selected for the highest number of agencies in Busan means the government recognizes that DSU has strived for university specialization. In the future, DSU will focus on cultivating human resources who are specialized to contribute to our regional industry and economic development.”
