Dong-A Daily News and Channel A, together with Deloitte Consulting, rated Korean four-year universities for the ‘2014 Youth Dream University’ award. Forty-nine universities were selected based on their employment and business start-up infrastructure and their students’ satisfaction ratings of the universities’ utilization efficiency and support for employment and business ventures.

For the second year in a row, Dongseo University was selected along with other top universities, including Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Yonsei University, Konkuk University, Kwangwoon University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Kookmin University, Dongguk University, and others. The front page of the Dong-A Daily Newspaper reported on August 26th that DSU was the only university selected in Busan.

President Jekuk Chang said, “We are honored to have been awarded this distinguished title for the second year in a row and to be the only university selected from Busan. We will continue to do our best in supporting our students as they search for high-quality employment and business opportunities.”

DSU has four employment information centers that provide services designed to meet students’ differing needs. Operating under the Human Resources Development Institute, these information centers include the Job-seeking Support Center, which handles employment within Korea; the Global Human Resources Development Institute, which handles international employment; the Placement Supporting Center, which matches students from various majors with relevant businesses; and the Female University Students Career Development Center, which provides additional employment support for female students.

The Global Human Resources Development Center has placed 63 graduates overseas and sent 878 students abroad since 2004, and DSU has established a broad network including over 500 local and international companies.

Bae Su-han, Director of the Human Resources Development Institute said, “Collaboration between DSU and the City Busan has helped to provide substantial support for students over the past 10 years. Also, many architecture students have recently gained employment in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, countries which are famous in the field of architecture.”
