On June 24th, the 15th Dongseo Nakdong River Environmental Protection Corps kicked off. The group was headed by Professor Oh Ki Hwan from the Division of Architecture & Civil Engineering, with three staff members and 110 students participating in this four-day event. The main goal of the Corps is to collect water samples for assessing annual changes in the ecosystem. The participants ride bicycles from Eulsukdo to Andong Dam, a 389 km stretch along the river, collecting the samples.

Lee Seon Woo, a senior from the Division of Leisure & Sports Science, said that after participating in this event last year and feeling such a great sense of accomplishment in doing something for the environment, he decided to join the volunteer group again this year. He has also encouraged his junior colleagues to continue supporting the Dongseo Nakdong River Environmental Protection Corps.

During the closing ceremony at the Minseok Sports Complex, Vice President of DSU Jeoung Seong Cho emphasized that the participants were the pride and future of DSU, adding that he hopes their sense of accomplishment will motivate them to continue their volunteer spirit as DSU alumni.
