DSU, the Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) and the Korean Academy of Film Festivals (KAFF) collaboratively hosted the ‘2009 AFA’ (Asian Film Academy). A total of twenty-four fellows representing various Asian nations were finally selected out of 133 applicants. In the opening ceremony held at Haeundae Cinematech on October 1st, DSU president Park Dong Soon, who is also the Steering Committee Chairperson of the AFA, said, “I’m happy that the 2009 AFA is being held. I expect that the AFA will contribute to the rearing of capable men and women of the next generation who will take on the responsibility of promoting the future of Asian movies, exchange of cultures and the birth of a ‘world-wide movie.’
