On April 27, the 2018 Get-together Chorus Tournament was held at Dongseo University’s Minseok Sports Center. The tournament, first held in 2017 to mark the new D-Map freshman project, aims to motivate all incoming freshmen by instilling in them a sense of pride in their ability to take on and overcome challenges. As they learn harmony, cooperation and teamwork, students begin to hone both the collaborative and the competitive skills that will help them succeed, first as Dongseo University students, and later as global citizens.

“I was able to develop a cooperative spirit with my classmates,” said Film & Media Arts major Kim Mo-kyung. “The chorus practice really brought us together as a team.”

“There is an educational effect that fosters cultural literacy through music and cooperation through harmony,” said Professor Ha Byeong-wook from the Music Department. “This effect strengthens cohesion and the feeling of belonging.”

Teams from fifteen different majors took part in this year’s tournament, with the Chemical Engineering team winning the Grand D-Map Prize, and the Leisure & Sports Science team taking the Top Prize. Honors Awards also went to the Architecture & Civil Engineering team and the Digital Contents team. The Foreign Languages team won the Re-action Award, while international students from the Global Studies Institute were awarded the Special Prize. All the students who took part had been practicing since early March.
