Agreement Signed with 100 Indonesian High Schools

Students from 100 Indonesian high schools may study at Dongseo University after graduating.

Dongseo University’s President Jekuk Chang and Dean for International Cooperation Chan Chung attended the high school MoU signing ceremony; the UNIMUS-Dongseo University Korean Center opening; and the 6thAsia-Pacific Regional Conference on Service-Learning in Indonesia.

u Memorandum of Understanding with 100 High Schools

On May 29th, Dongseo University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with 100 high schools in Java, eastern Indonesia. In attendance at the ceremony were Dongseo University’s President Jekuk Chang and Dean for International Cooperation Chan Chung, as well as leading representatives of the 100 participating high schools. The ceremony was held at Muhammadiyah University of Semarang, which is a sister school of Dongseo University.

“It took quite a long time to sign 100 treaties,” said President Jekuk Chang. “I was pleased to see that the Indonesian students seemed to know all the K-pop stars’ names and to have a very strong interest in Korea.”

In addition, the UNIMUS-Dongseo University Korean Center was opened at Muhammadiyah University of Semarang. Last year, in April 2016, Dongseo University and Muhammadiyah University of Semarang signed a 2+2 dual degree agreement, and the dual degree program is now in its second semester of operation.

u 6thAsia-Pacific Regional Conference on Service-Learning Keynote Address

Dongseo University’s President Jekuk Chang delivered the keynote address at the 6th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Service-Learning hosted by Petra Christian University in Surabaya, Indonesia. The theme of President Chang’s keynote address was “Making an Impact: Preparing Future Leaders in Asia Through Service-Learning”.

“As humanity enters the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it is easy to lose our sense of humanity. Therefore, it is important to instill the spirit of service learning in university. To this end, Dongseo has instituted various volunteer programs, such as International Tech Corps.”

It was also announced that Dongseo University will host the 2023 Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Service-Learning.

u Dual Degree Agreement with Petra Christian University, Surabaya

Dongseo University has signed a dual degree agreement with Petra Christian University, Surabaya for International Studies students. The two universities have also agreed to extend their dual degree program for Film students.
