Chancellor of the Dongseo Educational Foundation Park Dong Soon Receives Presidential Citation Award on World Water Day

Dongseo Educational Foundation Chancellor Park Dong Soon received a Presidential Citation Award on March 22, World Water Day, for her contribution to water resources conservation. Chancellor Park, who is also the President of Busan Mothers’ Green Movement (BMGM), received the prestigious award for her “contribution to the development of the national community through managing water resources conservation.”

 

As President of Dongseo University from 1999 to 2010, Chancellor Park devoted herself to the environmental protection of the Nakdong River by establishing the Nakdong River Environmental Service Corps. In 2010, after her tenure as DSU President, she became the founding President of Busan Mothers’ Green Movement (BMGM), recruiting over 4,600 members in her dedication to reviving local streams, reducing food waste, and reducinggreenhouse gases.

 

The presentation of the award took place during the governmental ceremony for “World Water Day” at BEXCO in Haeundae. A total of 16 individuals from around the country, including Chancellor Park and Professor Choi Seung-il of the Department of Environmental Systems Engineering at Korea University, received presidential citations. Over 2,500 people participated in the ceremony, including Korean Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn, Korean Minister of the EnvironmentYoon Seong-kyu, Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Choi Jeong-ho, as well as representatives from civic groups and business leaders.
