In May, Dongseo University (DSU) sophomores Jung Eun-young and Choi Ju-ri, from the Department of Food and Nutrition, received the grand prize of two million won in Nongshim’s “Healthy Noodle Recipe Competition”. This contest has been held for the last 8 years, and this year 364 teams from around the country participated.

The contest was open to university or college students, who made teams of at least two people. These teams were to create noodle recipes and dishes, with an emphasis on health. Entries were evaluated by freshness and nutritional value. The simplicity of cooking and the possibility of commercialization were also considered.

The winning dish was named “Busy-Wuyuk” by the DSU team. It is a simple and healthy tofu-based soup noodle dish aimed at busy business people who do not have much time for lunch. The winning team said, “We developed it for our fathers, who are always sacrificing for us.” The resulting recipe was complimented for being delicious and nutritious.

Another DSU team, made up of freshmen Kim Hyun-hee and Yang Go-eun, took the “Popularity Prize” of 100,000 won. This team was also from the Department of Food and Nutrition. Their dish was called “Gokenmyeon”. It is a noodle dish made with ground cashew nuts and cream pasta. They were inspired to make this healthy recipe dish for their mothers.

Congratulations to our winning teams! You can check out their prize-winning recipes at Nongshim’s homepage (www.nongshim.com/contest).
