[Quarantine Exemption for the People Vaccinated Overseas]

From July 1, 2021, for the people who have completed corona vaccinations overseas and have met the requirements, two-week quarantine is exempted after entry to Korea. However, for now, D-2 visa holiders are not yet considered urgently needed to be exempted quarantine. When I asked Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on July 23, I heard that studying long term is not included in the academic purpose for which qurantine is exempted for now.

For the quaranine exemption, you should do these:

1. Complete the corona vaccinations
-It should be a COVID-19 vaccine that is approved for emergency use by the World Health Organization.

(Pfizer, Janssen, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm and Covishield)
-fully vaccinated as many times as recommended for each vaccine
-vaccinated at least two weeks before traveling

2. Apply and get the Quarantine Exemption Certificate at the Korean Embassy
-The Korean Embassy will review your applicaion documents and your purpose of visit to Korea.

-Please note many possibilities that D-2 visa holiders might not be considered needed to be exempted quarantine for now.
-Check if you are eligible to apply and which documents are required at the Korean Embassy and submit them in time
-People from high-risk countires where corona variants case numbers are high will not be waived from quarantine

3. Take a corona PCR test and get a negative test result issued within 72 hours of departure

If you have fulfilled the procedure above and have the quarnatine exemption certificate and a negative PCR test result after arrival in Korea, you will be wavied from two-week quarantine. However, please note that this policy is subject to change depending on the spread of corona.
