On March 17th and for the second year running, Dongseo University was selected by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology as a recipient of the ‘2010 Educational Capability Reinforcement Project.’ This entitles DSU to about 3.4 billion won of government funding for reforming curriculum, educational training, and improving the university’s overall environment. The purpose of the funding is to improve the quality of education and the nationwide competitiveness.

According to the Ministry of Education, 85 universities will receive a share of the 260 billion won grant. Among universities with over 10,000 students, only 35 were chosen for this benefit. In Busan, five universities are included on the list: Pukyong National University, Dong-A University, Pusan National University, Korea Marine University, and Dongseo University.

The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology explained that the selection of university was based on the indexes of educational condition and outcome, such as the rate of employment (25%), the rate of recruiting (20%), educational expenses per student (15%), the rate of scholarship (15%), the rate of full-time faculty (10%), and globalization (5%).

President Park Dong Soon commented on this good news, “The competitiveness of Dongseo University has been proven by the governmental assessment for two consecutive years. This amazing result is due to the ardent passion the Dongseo family has shown for the development of the university. The support fund will be spent to raise the competitiveness of Dongseo much higher.”
