Dongseo Signed an Academic Cooperation Agreement

Two universities specialized in design, one from Korea and one from Indonesia have become sister universities. Dongseo University signed an academic cooperation agreement with Universitas Ciputra in DSU’s Global Room on March 26th, 2010. Universitas Ciputra is located in the vicinity of Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia. The agreement includes the exchange of faculty members and students, as well as, academic information, joint research, joint seminar, etc. Both universities agreed to exchange two students who want to study at the partner university for a year and to provide them with the benefits of free tuition and free housing.

At the signing ceremony, DSU President, Park Dong Soon, DSU Executive Vice President, Chang Jekuk, Director of the International Exchange & Cooperation Center, Chung Chan, President of Universitas Ciputra, Tony Antonio, Dean of College of Design, Freddy H. Istanto, and Director of the International Exchange Center, Markus Santoso were in attendance.
DSU President Park pointed out the importance of the agreement between two universities in her greeting: “I am aware that Universitas Cipura is a rapidly growing university which was founded on the spirit of Christianity and entrepreneurship. Dongseo University specializes in design, film, IT, and digital contents. Through this agreement, both universities will accelerate the mutual development of design and the globalization of education.”

Then followed the President of Universitas Ciputra, Tony Antonio: “Universitas Ciputra has three colleges including design and economics and has been heavily investing in the design field. Because we knew that DSU is one of the most representative Korean universities specialized in design, we proposed Dongseo make an exchange agreement. I’m sure that there will be a lot of progress in both universities.”
