The 10th Dongseo Sorok Island Volunteer Corps

The DSU Sorok Island Volunteer Corps, led by DSU Students’ Association President, Jeon Young Pyo, visited a six-hundred leper community on Sorok Island in Goheung, Jeollanam-do, from July 5th through July 8th. The 10th Sorok Island Volunteer Corps had 132 members, including one-hundred-thirty students and two staff members.

The Sorok Island Volunteer Corps was divided into six teams consisting of headquarters, meal support team, ward care team, food support team, hairdressing team, and environmental improvement team. For four days they worked hard to improve the living environment in the village, nursed patients and provided food to the villagers.

On July 8th, 2010, a welcoming ceremony was held to greet and celebrate the safe return of the Sorok Island Volunteer Corps in the International Cooperation Hall lobby.
