The Korea-China New Media Institute held its 10th anniversary ceremony in Wuhan, China, alongside the 70th anniversary celebrations of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) on October 26 and 27. The celebrations were attended by presidents of sister universities from all over the world, including the president of Dongseo University (DSU), Jekuk Chang, who also participated in the associated Presidential Forum.

The Korea-China New Media Institute is a joint venture between Dongseo University and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. Its students enroll in one of two majors, animation or digital imagery, and they complete their undergraduate studies according to a 3 + 1 system, spending their first, second and fourth years studying at ZUEL in China and their third year studying at DSU in Korea. After completing all of their course requirements, the students receive degrees from both universities. The institute has grown remarkably over the past 10 years. From 100 freshmen who started 10 years ago, it has now expanded to include 1138 students: 281 students who started in 2015, 276 students who started in 2016, 288 students who started in 2017, and 293 students who started in 2018.
At the institute’s 10th anniversary event, seventeen students from DSU’s Musicals Department put on a rousing performance, which the president of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Dr. Yang Canming, likened to “a performance of professional actors.”

Dongseo University President Jekuk Chang said, “We are grateful for the deep trust and close relationship between ZUEL and DSU, and we appreciate the efforts of President Yang Canming.” President Chang also expressed an intention to “enhance cooperation, exchanges, and development of the two sister universities.”
