Park Dong Soon, Chancellor of the Dongseo Educational Foundation, received the 8th Park Cha-jeong Women's Movement Award on November 23rd at a ceremony held at the Grand Hall of the Busan Ilbo. This marks the third major award that Chancellor Park has received in 2018, after being given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the World Women University Presidents Forum and later receiving the Korean Environment Award.
The Park Cha-jeong Women’s Movement Award is given to women who have devoted themselves to women’s rights and patriotic causes. The award is given in honor of Park Cha-jeong (1909-1944), a female independence activist from Busan. In its presentation of the award, the committee cited Chancellor Park’s lifelong dedication to improving the social development, rights and interests of women. In addition, Chancellor Park was also honored by the committee for her work on behalf of Busan environmental causes as the president of the 4,500-member Busan Mothers’ Green Movement.
