Dongseo University President Jekuk Chang announced on May 3rd that DSU has received final approval from the Chinese Ministry of Education for the joint operation with Kongju National University of a design program at Shanghai University of Engineering Science.

Dongseo University has successfully operated a digital media arts joint program with Shanghai University of Engineering Science since receiving approval from the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2003. The newly approved Sino-Foreign Joint Organization will be the first China-Korea joint operation organization in the design field in China. 

Dongseo University has maintained an international exchange and cooperation relationship with China for over 20 years, including student art exchange exhibitions and international academic conferences. Currently, DSU is operating joint programs approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education in four different majors at three universities in China: the digital media arts undergraduate program at Shanghai University of Engineering Science; two undergraduate programs, in visual communication design and in filmmaking, at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law; and an undergraduate course in mechatronics engineering at Anhui University of Science & Technology.

From September 2022, Dongseo University plans to welcome a total of 70 Chinese students every year into the International Creative Design School at Shanghai University of Engineering Science (50 undergraduates and 20 master’s degree students). A Dongseo University professor will be in charge of one third of the program courses.

President Jekuk Chang said, “Dongseo University has broadened its cooperation from the existing Sino-foreign joint program at Shanghai University of Engineering Science to a newly established Sino-foreign joint operation organization.” He added, “This is an opportunity to once again confirm our university’s strength in this major, both at home and abroad.”
