Cloocus Opens Global Tech Hub Center at Dongseo University

Busan Metropolitan City announced on May 25th that Cloocus, a cloud support service company, has opened the Cloocus Global Tech Hub Center at Dongseo University’s Centum Campus. The new Cloocus Busan Campus marks the Seoul-based company’s first step in creating a digital innovation ecosystem to foster local talent.

Cloocus was established in 2019 and is Korea’s leading business-to-business (B2B) IT company, providing comprehensive information and communication services with cloud and artificial intelligence solutions.

Through the operation of a partnership program to accelerate the digital transformation of local companies, the center will promote consulting on the introduction of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data, support for the commercialization of cloud services, and support for free credit using cloud services.

Cloocus will also provide practical training using Cloocus's Microsoft-authorized learning partner function to help foster local cloud talent through university-student-linked contests and cloud camps.

The company plans to hire local talent and create more than 100 jobs. Since the Amazon-Busan Cloud Innovation Center opened at Dongseo University’s Centum campus in November 2016, more than 110 member companies have created 690 new jobs. The Cloocus Global Tech Hub Center is also expected to play a major role in strengthening competitiveness and stimulating youth employment.

Cloocus CEO Hong Seong-wan said, “We established the Busan campus with the three goals of creating a partner ecosystem based on MS cloud, fostering cloud talent, and acting as a cloud conversion helper for companies based in Busan, Ulsan, and the Gyeongnam region.”

Lee Joon-seung, head of digital economic innovation, said, “Busan has already attracted data center companies such as MS and LG CNS, and it has the opportunity to become a leading city for cloud platform companies such as Amazon Web Services, Douzone Bizon and Kakao Enterprise.”
