Mr. Yuan Guiren, Minister of Education, Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and his delegation visited Dongseo University.

The Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China visited Dongseo University on Monday, May 21st, 2012. During his visit, he was interested to personally see and learn more about Dongseo University, since DSU is actively building a strong partnership with China through the opening a joint campus there. He was also interested to discuss further plans for expanding academic collaboration.

Minister Yuan Guiren arrived at ten o’clock in the morning and had a meeting with President Chang. They shared their thoughts on specialization strategies, industry-university cooperation, and collaborations between Korea and China. Minister Yuan Guiren expressed his gratitude to Dongseo University for taking the initiative in academic collaboration with China.

The Minister and his delegation visited the 3D Exhibition Hall, Media Center, 3D Fusion R&D Center and Minseok Library. He said, “as I had heard, I can see that Dongseo University is outstanding in the fields of IT, Film & Imagery and Design.

Minister Yuan Guiren also visited the Confucius Academy to view a performance arranged by students of the Chinese Department, and he encouraged Chinese students who are studying at Dongseo University. He had lunch in the Sapphire Room of the New Millenium Building with DSU President Chang Jekuk and Vice President Cho Jeoung Sung along with other DSU faculty members.

The visiting delegation consisted of executive members of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China including Mr. Guan Peijun, Director General of the Human Resources Department, Ms. Zhang Xiuqin, Director General of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, Mr. Liu Zicheng, Director General of the Policy and Regulations Department, and members of the managing staff of the Chinese Embassy.

After completing their visit to Dongseo University, the Minister and his delegation left for Gyeongju to attend the 5th APEC Education Ministerial Meeting, which was held in the afternoon.

DSU’s academic collaboration with Chinese universities includes the opening of a Korea-China joint campus with Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL), the operation of a ‘3+1 program’ in Multimedia with Shanghai University of Engineering Science, and the establishment of the Korea-China Institute of International Education with Weifang University of Science & Technology.
