Dongseo University RISE Project Group Successfully Concludes ADCC Asia Design Week-Tianjin

Establishing a Foundation for an Asian Design Community and Strengthening Global Networks

Full-scale Operation of ADCC Expands Korea-China Design Education Cooperation

Dongseo University’s RISE Project Group has taken another step toward strengthening collaborative networks in Asian design education.

On November 15, the “ADCC (Asian Design College Consortium) Asia Design Week-Tianjin,” held in Tianjin, China, concluded successfully. The event served as an opportunity to strengthen exchange among major Asian design universities while exploring future directions for design education and collaborative research.

Representatives from Dongseo University’s ADCC and Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts participated in the event and discussed the future of design education. Experts from a wide range of fields, including industrial design, visual design, and AI design, gathered together to explore practical approaches for building a sustainable Asian design ecosystem.

During the event, Dongseo University’s ADCC signed an official agreement with Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, establishing a closer framework for cooperation between the two institutions. In addition, a total of 33 collaborative initiatives were prepared, including four letters of intent for global joint research projects and 28 letters of intent regarding participation in ADCC.

In his welcoming remarks, Juyoung Chang, Dean of the Design College at Dongseo University, stated that “ADCC Asia Design Week is more than a simple exchange program; it is an important platform for collectively shaping the future of Asian design education.” He emphasized that fostering collaboration among design education institutions and experts across Asia remains one of the Design College’s major goals.

He further expressed his hope that the event would serve as the beginning of new forms of cooperation and future development.

One participant at the event commented that “the global standing of Dongseo University’s Design College continues to grow each year,” adding that the event could provide an opportunity for Korea and China to strengthen cooperation within the design industry.

Building on the outcomes of this Asia Design Week, Dongseo University’s RISE Project Group plans to further advance the establishment of the Asian Design College Consortium (ADCC).

Through various global research collaboration programs, the RISE Project Group aims to create a joint research platform connecting major design universities across Asia. Based on this framework, the university plans to pursue mid- to long-term strategies including the development of a sustainable Asian design education ecosystem, expansion of global collaborative research, and strengthening of global design leadership.

In particular, ADCC is expected to expand beyond the level of academic exchange into practical global collaborative research. The consortium aims to establish a meaningful model for international academic cooperation through the sharing of design education methodologies and research outcomes across Asian countries, as well as through the development of joint global research projects.

Dongseo University’s RISE Project Group also plans to strengthen partnerships with major Asian design universities by expanding international exhibitions and workshops, while encouraging greater student exchange through the “Design Erasmus” program. Through these efforts, the university seeks to contribute to shifting the center of design education collaboration toward Busan while further enhancing students’ global competencies.

Meanwhile, ADCC Asia Design Week-Tianjin was organized as part of the expansion of the Asian Design College Consortium (ADCC) platform and was supported by the Dongseo University RISE Project Group.
