Dongseo University RISE Project Group SIG Research Team Receives the “Chairman’s Award” from the Korea Green Campus Council
– Environmental Action by Young Designers Recognized

Dongseo University’s RISE Project Group recruited SIG research groups on November 3, 2025. Among them, the “3℃” research team received the Chairman’s Award at the final presentation of the “2025 Korea Green Campus Council 12th Green Leader Development Program,” held at Korea University on December 6, in recognition of its outstanding achievements.

The 3℃ team, established as part of the Erasmus Mobility SIG research initiative under the Dongseo University RISE Project Group, has planned and carried out a series of small-scale design-based action projects addressing the issue of marine waste at Dadaepo Beach since May of this year. The project received positive evaluations for presenting a new model for solving local environmental issues from the perspective of the younger generation.
Student Junhee Lee from the Department of Advertising & Public Relations commented, “Throughout 2025, three students from different majors worked together as one team on the Dadaepo marine waste awareness improvement project, and I am very happy that we were able to achieve meaningful outcomes. I am grateful to the team members who sincerely fulfilled their roles despite busy academic schedules and assignments, and I feel even more proud that our efforts led to such positive results.”

The activities of the 3℃ team were highly regarded not simply as an environmental campaign, but as a design-based research case in which young designers actively engaged with local issues. Through a multi-layered approach that included data-driven visual materials, promotional content production, and participatory exhibitions, the team encouraged changes in awareness among local communities and citizens. Cooperation with public institutions and local stakeholders also helped broaden the project’s potential for wider expansion.
This achievement served as a meaningful example demonstrating both the role and potential of universities in building a sustainable future, while also showing how young people can contribute to solving local environmental issues through design.
The students of the award-winning 3℃ team received project funding support through the Asian-style Design Erasmus SIG (Special Interest Group) research initiative of the Dongseo University RISE Project, which enabled them to conduct field research, exhibitions, presentations, and related activities in a more stable and organized manner.
