An International Exchange Platform for the Future of Design Education and Research in Asia

The workshops and special lectures organized by ADCC (Asia Design College Consortium) aim to promote practical academic exchange and educational innovation among leading design universities across Asia.
The faculty and emerging researcher mobility programs are designed to enable invited and dispatched experts to share the latest trends in design research through lectures and workshops while strengthening global academic networks. In addition, special lectures and conference-linked workshops serve as international platforms that enhance students’ learning opportunities and motivation for global study while encouraging the exchange of design education methodologies and international collaboration across countries.

[Special Lecture] Public Design Strategy Development and Application

Dongseo University Glocal Project Group organized a special lecture and exchange program to strengthen public design strategies and regional innovation initiatives.

The lecture was held on November 11, 2025, at the Seminar Room of the Virtual Convergence Technology Innovation Institute at Dongseo University. The program focused on sharing public design case studies and discussing strategic approaches for practical implementation.

During the lecture, participants examined recent examples and policy directions in public design while discussing the role of design in addressing urban and regional issues from multiple perspectives. Based on practical case studies, various approaches were presented, including improvements to public services, enhancement of local environments, and the application of user-centered design strategies.

The following discussion session explored strategic methods and implementation systems for applying public design within local communities. Participants also discussed the potential convergence of technology-based services and design, emphasizing the necessity of establishing region-specific public design models.

In addition, participants reviewed public design policy cases and examined their applicability to regional contexts while discussing future directions and implementation strategies. The discussions also explored collaborative approaches for solving regional issues and improving urban environments through public design.

The lecture and exchange program went beyond a conventional educational session by providing a platform for participants to share perspectives and develop practical foundations for collaboration through strategic discussion.

In particular, the program was meaningful in that it helped define directions for regional innovation centered on public design while establishing a foundation for future policy and project development.

Dongseo University Glocal Project Group plans to continue operating exchange and collaboration programs focused on public design to support practical initiatives for solving regional issues and strengthening urban competitiveness.
