In the summer of 2025, students from the Dongseo University College of Design visited Kyushu Sangyo University in Fukuoka, Japan, to participate in a global international exchange program.
Rather than being a simple overseas visit, the program was organized as a practical global education initiative centered on design, collaboration, and intercultural exchange.

The program began with an exhibition showcasing works by students from both universities. The diverse range of projects displayed in a shared space naturally encouraged conversation and interaction.
As students shared their working methods and creative ideas, they began to understand each other’s perspectives, and the welcome session became the starting point for meaningful exchange.

Students also participated in a cultural exploration program connected to the Busan region, experiencing various cultural sites and environments firsthand.
By visiting exhibitions and cultural spaces and engaging with local content, students were able to understand how design is shaped by the culture and environment of a specific region.

The core of the program was a global creative workshop.
Under the theme of “Design for Sustainable Peace,” Korean and Japanese students formed teams to exchange ideas and develop collaborative outcomes.
Students experienced the design process directly through hands-on activities using analog production methods such as silkscreen printing while creating works that reflected environmental and social values.

This international exchange program provided students with opportunities that extended beyond a typical overseas experience.
By encountering design approaches developed in different cultural and educational environments, students gained new perspectives on design and naturally developed global collaboration skills through teamwork and shared creative processes.
The program also encouraged students to understand diverse cultural backgrounds and explore how such perspectives could be integrated into design, leading to broader thinking and more creative approaches.
At the same time, the program served as a meaningful opportunity to reaffirm the potential for continued exchange and collaboration between Dongseo University and Kyushu Sangyo University.

Although the program lasted only four days and three nights, it became a deeply meaningful learning experience for the participating students.
Experiencing a new culture firsthand in an unfamiliar environment and collaborating with students from different backgrounds offered valuable lessons that are difficult to gain in a traditional classroom setting.
Through the shared language of design, students communicated ideas, collaborated on projects, and naturally developed the communication and problem-solving skills required in a global environment.
As different perspectives came together to create shared outcomes, students experienced firsthand the importance of collaboration and the value of diversity.
More than simply producing final results, the program demonstrated how design can serve as an important medium connecting people.
For the students, it also became a meaningful starting point for discovering new possibilities and gaining confidence to engage with a broader global community.
