Beyond being the first in Korea, toward becoming the best in the world
Beyond being the first in Korea, we aim to become the best in the world. The Dongseo University Department of Musical Entertainment, established for the first time among four-year universities in Korea in 2000, is leading the way in musical education.
Expanding beyond Korea and striving to be the best worldwide, we nurture professional musical artists. With a distinguished team of professors and state-of-the-art educational facilities, we present the Department of Musical Entertainment at Dongseo University, an urban arts institution.
We've introduced the newly established Musical Acting Major + Staff Major, designed to train not only actors but also professional staff through dedicated staff training. Our department boasts a solid faculty, practice-focused curriculum, and cutting-edge educational resources.
The staff major is dedicated to cultivating stage staff and creators in the musical and performing arts domains, covering education in various aspects of the performance and broadcasting industries, including directing, writing, composing, stage management, sound, lighting, makeup, event planning, costumes, video, and more.
Students have the opportunity to receive professional education at Sohyang Theater, a spacious venue with 1,134 seats, allowing them to grow and excel in their respective fields.
The best professors in the country
The best professors in the country who are active in the field
Korea's first-generation choreographer, Seo Byeong-gu, actor Seong Ki-yoon, who excels on both screen and stage, actor Oh Se-jun, and directors Lee Jae-eun and Choi Min-wook, along with leading artists in the musical world actively engaged in their fields, work diligently and study together to mentor young artists.
Furthermore, we invite professional coaching instructors with expertise in ballet and dance to provide training. Additionally, we have the privilege of having Korea's top vocal professors, who have studied abroad in Italy and France, offering character and values education, including vocal training, through Korea's unique 1:1 lesson program.
