Collection and Consent of Personal Information

 

Design Futures Journal (DFJ) has the following privacy policy to protect the personal information of users and their rights in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act. It ensures the smooth handling of any complaints related to users' personal information.

Design Futures Journal will notify users of any revisions to the privacy policy via the website notice (or individual notice).

 

1. 1. Purpose of Processing Personal Information

 

Design Futures Journal processes personal information for the following purposes. The collected personal information will not be used for purposes other than those stated below and prior consent will be sought if the purpose of use changes.

Personal information is processed for confirming membership intention, identifying/authenticating members, maintaining and managing membership status, verifying identity under limited identity verification systems, preventing fraudulent use of services, confirming consent from legal guardians when collecting personal information of children under 14 years old, notifications, handling complaints, and maintaining records for dispute resolution.

 

2) Handling Civil Complaints

Personal information is processed for verifying the identity of the complainant, confirming complaint details, contacting and notifying for fact-finding, and notifying the result of handling the complaint.

 

3) Provision of Goods or Services

Personal information is processed for providing services, offering content, providing personalized services, identity verification, age verification and other service-related purposes.

 

 

2. 2. Personal Information File Status

 

1) Personal Information Collection Items

• Personal Information Items: User ID, password, name, email, home address, home phone number, mobile phone number, website visit date and time.

3. 3. Retention/Use Period of Personal Information

 

1) Design Futures Journal will retain and use personal information only during the period of service provision, starting from the date of registration.

2) Personal information, other than information that the user has agreed to disclose in advance, will be destroyed without delay once the purpose of collection and use is achieved, unless retention is required by law or for preventing re-registration by former users within 3 months.

• Items Retained: Name, birth year, gender, email address (user ID), mobile phone number, region of residence, payment records, partner content usage history, interests.
• Retention Reason: To prevent confusion in service use, to cooperate with investigations of illegal users by related authorities.
• Retention Period: 3 years.

 

3) When retention is necessary under relevant laws, Design Futures Journal will retain member information for a certain period as stipulated by law.

• Retained Items: Service usage records, connection logs, IP connection information.
• Legal Basis: Telecommunications Privacy Protection Act.
• Retention Period: 3 months.

④ Records related to payment and supply of goods or services: 5 years (Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc. Act)

⑤ Records related to identity verification: 6 months (Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc.)

⑥ Records related to visits: 3 months (Telecommunications Privacy Protection Act)

 

4. 4. Rights, Obligations, and Exercise of Rights of Information Subject

 

Users, as data subjects, can exercise the following rights. For users under the age of 14, legal guardians can also access or modify their children's personal information. Consent for using personal information can be withdrawn by withdrawing membership. Users can inquire, change or request withdrawal via the website or through written, phone or email requests to the personal information manager.

5) Users must accurately input their personal information. The responsibility for issues arising from inaccurate information rests with the user.

 

6) Users must comply with relevant laws such as the "Act on Promotion of Information and Communication Network Utilization," "Personal Information Protection Act," and "Resident Registration Act."

 

7) Rights can also be exercised by a legal representative or authorized person, who must submit a power of attorney.

 

5. 5. Destruction of Personal Information

 

Design Futures Journal will destroy personal information promptly once the purpose of processing is achieved. The procedure, timeline, and method are as follows:

 

1) Destruction Procedure

Information provided by users is moved to a separate database (or paper records) after the purpose is achieved. After a certain period or immediately, the information is destroyed according to internal policies and relevant laws. This information is not used for other purposes unless required by law.

 

2) Destruction Timeline

Personal information will be destroyed within 5 days after the retention period expires or when it is no longer necessary for processing, service termination, or business closure.

 

3) Destruction Method

Electronic data will be destroyed using methods that prevent recovery. Paper records will be shredded or incinerated.

 

6. 6. Linked Sites

 

1) Design Futures Journal may provide links to affiliate or other websites through the services it operates. "Design Futures" is not responsible for the services or content provided by external sites or transactions between the user and these sites.

 

2) If users move to a linked site, they should review the privacy policy of that site as it is independent of Design Futures Journal.

In compliance with Article 29 of the Personal Information Protection Act, Design Futures Journal implements necessary technical, administrative, and physical measures for the safety of personal information.

The number of employees handling personal information is minimized and managed by designated personnel.

Access to the personal information database system is restricted, and unauthorized external access is prevented using intrusion prevention systems.

 

4) Document Security

Documents containing personal information and storage media are kept in secure places with locking devices.

 

5) External Unauthorized Access Control

To prevent hacking, unauthorized access from outside is controlled using intrusion prevention systems, and access to servers is limited to the minimum number of necessary personnel.
